As a gesture of gratefulness for soldiers who serve the people and protect our land, uniformed personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are allowed to ride the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2) for free until the end of 2018.
According to Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) public relations head Lyn Paragas-Janeo, the memorandum of agreement signed by the LRTA and the AFP is a way of honoring the soldiers especially those who fought against terrorists and liberated Marawi City.
In order to avail free rides, soldiers will be required to present their identification card to any personnel of LRTA.
AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero expressed his appreciation for the free LRT-2 rides, saying that this will help in boosting soldiers’ morale.
“We are very thankful to the LRT Authority for their show of support to our troops in performing their duties. This is a big help to our soldiers. This certainly boosts the morale of our troops and gives us more reasons to perform better in our mandate of serving the people and protecting the state,” Guerrero said.
