LOOK: Duterte visits core shelters for Marawi evacuees

The “Bahay Pagasa Shelter Project” in Barangay Mipaga for evacuees displaced by the five-month crisis in Marawi City which have been built by Army engineers and Armor battalions are being inspected personally by President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Major General Gilbert Gapay, commander of the Mechanized Armor Division, they aim for the completion of 60 shelters in Mipaga this February.

The shelters are being built in coordination with the Tarlac Heritage Foundation and will accommodate 60 families from villages in ground zero of Marawi City or areas where the heaviest firefights took place from May 23 to October 17.

The shelters are located about three kilometers from the main relocation site of Barangay Sagonsongan, where private contractors are also building 1,700 shelters.
