The police chief and three personnel of San Carlos City Police Station in Negros Occidental received the Philippine National Police Medal of Merit (Medalya ng Kagalingan) for the station’s P6.8-million illegal drug haul last week.
Chief Superintendent Cesar Binag, Director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, awarded Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas Jr. and his three men, in rites held at PRO-6 headquarters in Iloilo City on Monday.
The policemen were awarded for arresting the motorcycle-for-hire driver Christian Unaba, 29, of Barangay Palampas, in a buy bust operation last January 23. It led to the recovery of an estimated P6.825-million worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing 593.532 grams.
