Couple from Bacolod yielded PhP 225,00 in ‘shabu’

A recovery of 17 grams of suspected “shabu” worth PhP 225,000 were seized from a drug suspect and his partner in a drug bust at Abada Escay, Barangay Vista Alegre in Bacolod City on February 09, 2018.

The couple was identified by police as Chargotte de Asis and Regin Tabara. De Asis is a high-value target of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and is believed to be a member of Berya drug group.

Police seized from them six sachets of shabu, a digital weighing scale, and the PhP 1,000 mark money. Both suspects are detained at BCPO Police Station 7.

According to Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, assistant team leader of City Drug Enforcement Unit, De Asis was able to distribute illegal drugs in various areas in the city before the operation was conducted.

Albaytar said they learned that De Asis met with a drug courier Friday, but they have yet to determine the source of the illegal drugs. He added that De Asis has been included in their watchlist since last year. “We have been continuously monitoring his activities,” Albaytar said.
