Rebel returnees will undergo integration program of the government

From the hidden and armed fights in the mountains, the seven former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and the other 44 base supporters from the province of Masbate are hoping to have a continuous peaceful living.

They were presented before the committee of the Comprehensive Local Integration Program o CLIP of the government. The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the 2nd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Bacolod, Milagros, Masbate.

The rebel returnees have also surrendered their firearms that include: M16, caliber. 45 pistol, Garand rifle, at caliber .38 revolver. They presented the firearms before the local government unit of Masbate, Philippine National Police, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development and Major General Jesus Manangquil ng 9th Infantry Division.

Since January, the construction of the half-way house located in Camp Bonny Serrano, Masbate City have already begun. It is a PhP 5 million project for the rehabilitation of the rebel surrenderees.
