President Rodrigo Roa Duterte told the New People’s Army (NPA) and other terrorist groups to allow government and investors to work for countryside development.
In his visit to personally witness the condemnation and destruction of 68 illegally imported luxury cars and eight high-end motorcycles in Sta. Ana, Cagayan, he lauded the efforts of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) in pursuing development programs to boost the economy and to help uplift the living status of the people in Cagayan Valley.
President Duterte said progress and development would never be attained without establishing peace and order in the communities.
“Let us show to the international communities that the Philippines is viable for business ventures,” Duterte said.
The President appealed to rebels to support the economic activities within the Eco-zone to be able to benefit from them in the long run, especially the children of the future generation.
“You allow government to work in this area. Establish economic centers. Make it productive. Make it safe. Make the building structure fire-free. No attack, no killing,” Duterte said.
The statement was made by the President following the presentation of Lawyer Raul Lambino, CEZA administrator and chief executive officer on the major development projects CEZA will undertake this year.
Lambino said they will establish a financial technology hub, corporate center, warehouse, multi-purpose building and sanitary landfill, and rehabilitate the San Vicente wharf and causeway.
The President said the government is doing its best to enable countryside development but cooperation of community sectors is needed to attain the ultimate goal of the projects which is uplifting the lives of every Filipino.
