Army recovers molotov bomb bottles in Iligan City hinterland village

The 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion (4MIB) of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army reported the discovery of thirteen bottles of molotov bombs in the secluded Sitio Malagsong in the hinterland village of Rogongon, Iligan City, Mindanao Southern Philippines.

Lieutenant Colonel Bernardo Taqueban, Commanding Officer of 4MIB said the 13 molotov bombs were assessed by Philippine National Police-Scene of the Crime Operatives (PNP-SOCO) and were determined to be gasoline, soap, and flammable chemicals capable to destroy or immobilize vehicles and heavy equipment when ignited.

Taqueban said “the molotov bombs were believed to be used by the suspected New People’s Army terrorists group to burn heavy equipment owned by private companies who will not cooperate and support for a revolutionary tax campaign.”

Taqueban said “private construction companies who did not extend revolutionary fund support were subjected to possible attacks and were threatened by NPA to discredit President Duterte’s administration.”

Meanwhile, the 51st Infantry Battalion from Saguiran, Lanao del Sur prepositioned in Iligan City to provide additional security support to 44 barangays while the 4MIB focused anew in its area of operations in Lanao del Norte particularly the towns of Tagoloan, Pantar, Panatao Ragat, Matungao, Balo-i Linamon, Munai Poona Piagapo and Kauswagan towns.
