People’s Television Network, Inc. (PTV) announced that it will be constructing a satellite television station this year in Marawi City.
Executives from PTV and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said the establishment of the PTV station aims to create an infrastructure that will serve as an avenue for the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) to disseminate information about its efforts for the recovery and rehabilitation of the displaced and returned residents of Marawi City.
The proposed establishment of the station was recently discussed with the provincial government of Lanao del Sur and Mindanao State University System (MSU) by PTV and PIA executives.
Ocular visits to the potential areas in Lanao del Sur provincial capitol complex and MSU were conducted.
“We are seeing the provincial capitol complex and MSU campus as potential areas for the establishment of the station being the high elevated areas in Marawi City. It is also good that this will be established in an area with highest elevation to ensure the signal propagation,” said PIA Director-General Harold Clavite.
Clavite said Maranao language will be utilized for the news cast.
“The news cast will be done in Maranao language. Tagalog and Bisaya languages will also be used in news casting to ensure that the residents will immediately receive the information,” Clavite said.
Targeted to be constructed this 2018, the TV hub is one of the priority projects of the Information Management and Strategic Communications Support Group (IMSCG) of TFBM. The project was recommended by Secretary Martin Andanar of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), a lead agency of TFBM-IMSCG together with PIA.
