The construction of the 40-kilometer concrete “dream road” from Kapai, Lanao del Sur to Talakag, Bukidnon is on its way to completion.
“With this road, Marawi City to CDO City shall only be a 1 and a 1/2 hours travel without traffic from the usual 3 hours via Iligan City. From Marawi, commuters shall pass by the municipalities of Kapai and Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur, and Talakag, Bukidnon before arriving at Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City,” Lanao del Sur public information officer Jennie Alonto Tamano said in her facebook post.
This project is supervised by the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur with funds from DPWH-ARMM. It is a flagship project of DPWH LDS 1 and fully funded until 2019 including funding from DPWH Region 10.
The late Governor Mamintal M. Adiong, Sr. envisioned this road during his term as Congressman of the 1st district of Lanao del Sur. His son, then Governor Mamintal Bombit Adiong, lobbied for it and had it started during his term. Now, Governor Bedjoria Soraya Alonto Adiong is continuing the supervision of this road with the hope of having it completed in 2019.
The said Dream Road 2 aims to connect the Municipality of Kapai, Lanao del Sur to Talakag, Bukidnon via Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur.
As of now, the 7.5 kilometer road construction is already completed while 5.3 kilometer is still on-going in Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur. The entire road from Kapai to Talakag is 37.7 kilometers.
“Thank you, DPWH-ARMM, ARMM Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman, DPWH-10, then President Benigno C. Aquino, III as it is during his term when the project started, and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the ongoing construction of this national road which shall connect ARMM to Region 10,” Tamano said.
