The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IX conducted the opening program for Skills Training in Cake and Bread Making Leading to Bread and Pastry Production for persons with disability (PWDs) at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Major David Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on April 12, 2021.
“The 53IB is concerned with the community’s welfare in terms of economic and livelihood, income. The Matapat Troopers are so aggressive for the progress and productivity not only for Friends Rescued (FRs) but also for all those who want to upgrade their economic status and social stability in life including the PWDs,” TESDA IX Regional Director Dan Navarro said in his message as the program’s guest of honor and speaker.
TESDA Trainer Roy Aposaga conducted the training session with 18 selected PWDs participants from Zamboanga del Sur.
“I am very happy and thankful for TESDA Region IX Director Navarro and staff for sharing their knowledge and skills to help our PWDs in putting up their businesses in the future for their economic progress. Our partnership with TESDA is part of our efforts in peacebuilding and helping the community,” 53IB Commanding Officer Ltc Jo-ar Herrera said.
